Grand Trunk Travellers, fronted by Karl-Johan Jonsson, offer evocative vintage singer/songwriter-rock. They have traveled around in Scandinavia and the Baltic states with their grand harmonium-organ, glockenspiel, acoustic guitars and a bunch of other instruments. The band has 2 sold-out EPs, and their own premium coffee brand.

The band has performed on everything from foreign festival stages to local cafes, from private weddings to tv-shows, from someone’s living-room to a staircase in Riga.

The ability to perform as full band with drums, electric guitars, and bass, or all acoustic sets with acoustic guitar, floor tom and special instruments as harmonium and glockenspiel, or a full live experience with all combined, and still sound like the same band, is probably one of the things that make Grand Trunk Travellers unique.

Karl-Johan writes songs that easily get stuck in people’s heads for a long time. His trademark is singing thoughtful lyrics with feeling and warmth.

Musically, the band’s sound has been described as a blend of vintage rock, singer/songwriter and… magical!

In 2015, the band also launched their own premium coffee blend, in cooperation with Alingsås Kafferosteri, available at concerts and at

Grand Trunk Travellers are currently in the writing and recording process. Meanwhile, they are performing as much as possible.

Wasting My Time

Band members

Grand Trunk Travellers is more a flexible musical collective rather than a band. Meet some of the folks behind this movement:

Aron Sörsäter

Drums. Young, but mature, when it comes to drumming. He is as steady as a ticking clock, punching and brushing his drums like a pro. Is probably one of the most sympathetic youngsters you will ever meet.

Karl-Johan Jonsson

Frontman, songwriter, lead singer, guitarist, arrangements. Karl-Johan, is the band in one man. Without him – no band (except for that time he forgot that he had to work, so Grand Trunk Travellers had to perform without him…) Married family man, school teacher and the nicest guy you'll ever meet.

Jonatan Samuelsson

Glockenspiel, acoustic & electric guitar, bass, piano, harmonium, bass pedals, percussion, drums, arrangements and backing vocals. Married to Karl-Johan’s sister Jenny. Besides playing with the band, he also handles the booking and administration, records and produce the music together with Karl-Johan. The engine of the band.

Joel Sörsäter

Harmonium, piano, bass, glockenspiel, percussion, drums, arrangements, and backing vocals. Cousin to Karl-Johan. Despite his young age, he is a genius, and probably the most talented musician in the collective. He joined the collective at their first concert in 2013, and has performed at almost all concerts since then. Joel is also playing and singing on ‘Lowercase Sessions II’.

Julia Erlingmark

Backing vocals. Karl-Johan’s youngest sister, Julia, joined the band live in 2014, and is singing on every song of "Lowercase Sessions 2".
